Rosolini was a fief and belonged to the Platamone family from the fifteenth century.
The town was founded by Francesco Moncada, prince of Lardaria on 1 August 1712. The village was built on a hill. The settlers settled around the so-called "Castle" ( home of the Moncada-Platamone family )Today only the bell tower and an early Christian hypogeal basilica remain.
The coat of arms of Rosolini an eagle with wings outstretched claws hooked and extended surmounted by a gold crown with the shield of the coat of arms of the Moncada Paternò family on the chest and with a stripe on the feet containing the words Universitas Rosolinorum Regi benefit on the blue background.
