This tour was created by Lake Macquarie Landcare in celebration of 2021 National Landcare Week. For enquiries call 4921 0392  or email  lro@lakemac.nsw.gov.au.

The Keith Barry Oval Landcare site is a hidden treasure, tucked away behind two football fields in Toronto.

To access the site, turn into the oval from Awaba Road (look out for the large, dark green sign). The gate remains locked when the oval is not in use, but there is room to park on the side of the road.

The audio tour goes for around 20 - 30 minutes, but please take your time to enjoy yourself while here. There is no rush!

Ensure you are wearing enclosed, non-slip footwear and protective clothing. The route is taken mostly along established trails, with a short detour off track at one point. Please be careful of both yourself and the plants around you.

I've walked and ridden through this area lots of times and look forward to going back again at a slower pace to check out Wendy's work and maybe see some orchids (at the right time of year). I'm also keen to see how the paspalum experiment patch is going. It's good to listen to a different perspective on the site and see the 1961 aerial photo.

Some dedicated work at this site, and I enjoyed the virtual wander through ... keen now to visit.

This is an excellent overview and now I’m keen to actually walk through the site. It was easy to navigate through all the “dot points” or rather through the photo points!!!! The descriptions of the work and documentation were interesting. Great dedication.
