When you create a virtual museum, the following definitions are used:

A virtual museum can contain several separate exhibits, or can group its exhibits into collections. In the image below, we demonstrate the structure of a virtual musem: the Museum (1) - the Collections (2) - the Exhibits (3).

Museum

The museum is the main object in the structure of the virtual museum. It contains a description of the museum, its coordinates and a plan (layout). The structure of the museum contains the collections and exhibits.

The museum description

The description of the museum is designed to represent the museum in the mobile audio guide. It contains:

• A text description of the museum (1).
• An audio story about the museum (2).
• One or more photographs of the museum (3).
• A video about the museum (4). Optional.
• A quiz (5). Optional.

Museum coordinates

The coordinates of the museum are used in mobile audio guides to display the museum on the map and to calculate the distance from the current location of the tourist to the museum.

Museum plan

The museum's plan can be found in the mobile audio guides under "Museum Plan". Helps tourists to find their way through the museum. The museum plan can be presented as one or several maps (one per floor).

Exhibit

Exhibit – the basic element in the virtual museum. The description of the exhibit consists of:

• A text description (1).
• Audio story about the exhibit (2).
• One or several photographs (3).
• A video about the exhibit (4). Optional.
• A quiz (5). Optional.

The museum's structure can be made more complicated and consist of collections, which in turn consist of exhibits. An example of such a structure is given below.

Collection

A collection is a compilation of exhibits, united by a common theme. Consists of a description of the collection and links to the particular exhibits.
