Audiotur A walk through the site

Along the valley of the river of the Margi, in the Plain of Catania, stands the imposing basaltic hill of Rocchicella characterized on its southern side by a large cave. The place was the seat of a famous sanctuary in Antiquity, the sanctuary of the Palici brothers, developed around some water springs with a curious sub-volcanic phenomenon. The excavations and investigations carried out in recent years have made it possible to discovere large portions of the sanctuary which in the 5th century BC, about 2400 years ago, occupied a large part of the area in front of the cave and extended over various terraces according to a clear scenographic layout visible from the surrounding plain.
