I am a rising senior here at Barnard, and I am an international student from the Philippines. My fellow tour guides and I are going to take you across campus and share a little bit about the Barnard experience. You can listen along as you walk through campus, or simply listen from home.
Barnard’s campus generally requires ID swipe access to enter buildings, so our tour will guide you along the path outdoors. The Visitor Center and the first floor of the Diana Center are open to visitors between 9-5, so you’re welcome to check out the Barnard Store and the cafe in the Diana Center while you’re on campus.
Also, there are four crests of Millie the Dancing Bear, our mascot, around campus, so make sure to keep your eyes peeled so you can try and find them. If you need a break at any point, feel free to pause the tour and continue whenever you’re ready. Now, let’s get started!
Meet our Barnard Student Admissions Representatives (BSARs):
Lauren (she/her) is from Wilmington, DE and is majoring in Medieval & Renaissance Studies. She writes for the Columbia Federalist satire newspaper and participates in many performing arts groups on campus, including Columbia Musical Theater Society, Columbia University Players, and King’s Crown Shakespeare Troupe.
Leeza (they/them) is from New York City and is majoring in Cognitive Science with a specialization in Linguistics and minoring in History. In addition to being a Barnard Student Admissions Representative (BSAR), they are part of the Barnard Outdoor Adventure Team, Barnard Bookworms, and the Columbia Federalist.
Luisa (she/they) is from Larchmont, NY and is majoring in History with a concentration in Gender & Sexuality, and minoring in Environmental Science. Outside of their work as a Barnard Student Admissions Representative (BSAR), Lu is on the board of the Columbia University Players (CUP) and participates in many theatre and performing arts groups on campus, including Orchesis, NOMADS, and KCST.
Mel (she/her) is an international student from Cebu, Philippines, and is double majoring in Information Science and English. Beyond working as a Head Barnard Student Admissions Representative (HBSAR), Mel is a data research assistant within the English department. In addition, she conducts research in education equity as a Laidlaw Scholar. She also serves as an art and design editor for Quarto, Columbia's official undergraduate literary magazine.
