In the past, when trains stopped at Grandchester, passengers needed a quiet, safe place to sit when waiting for their train. Today however, the waiting room at Grandchester features more than just benches.
Why Bigge's Camp? The name refers to early pastoralist Frederick Bigge, who camped by the nearby lagoon in 1842. The lagoon subsequently became a stopping place for travellers. Although the name was changed to Grandchester, reflections of the former name remain even today.
