Let me start with the international recognition that Petra has won so far!
On 6th December 1985, Petra was designated as the UNESCO World Heritage Site, describing it as "one of the most precious cultural properties of man's cultural heritage". On 7th July 2007, Petra was declared the winner of the New 7 Wonders of the World. Do you know this was the WORLD'S FIRST-EVER GLOBAL VOTING CAMPAIGN? Yes, it was held for the first time in history that spanned over 7 years in which 100 million people voted. In the same year, 2007, Petra was officially designated as Petra Archaeological Park.
