Введение THE RED GERNIKA

WELCOME to THE RED GERNIKA exhibition, I am Oscar Vega and I am going to guide you through this adventure.

Three years ago I locked myself in a large studio with an ambitious aim: to paint "a Guernica", but totally reinterpreted, and in the usual colours of my work, red and black, instead of black and white like Picasso's Guernica. Thus was born this "Red Guernica", measuring 3.5 x 7.7 m, which is the centrepiece of the exhibition that you will see later.

But what he did not realise at the time was that this painting would be followed by some thirty other works, "along the path of Guernica".  Now we can enjoy them all together in this exceptional exhibition, for its rarity, for its expressive force and for its content, which brings together large-format oil paintings, large and surprising sculptures in plastic matter, mysterious screens with phrases for reflection and an immersive audiovisual installation through which you can physically enter my imaginary world.

I really hope you like it. Or at least that it makes you think and reflect.

The first thing you are going to see is a video provided by RTVE entitled "Los Gritos del Guernica" (The Screams of Guernica) where those responsible for the Reina Sofía Museum in Madrid, (where this colossal work by Picasso is currently housed), explain why he painted the picture, touches on the period and ends the report with explanations on how they preserve the work and what is behind it.
