Göreme Open Air Museum, 13th century. This is a stone settlement, which until the 13th century had an intense monastic life.
In the area that forms the valley, churches, chapels, dining rooms and recreation areas are carved into stone blocks.
The Göreme valley is considered to be the place where the system of monastic education was born, and the same system of education was seen in Soganli, Ihlara and Achiksaray later.
While the geometric designs used in churches in the early periods of Christianity can be seen in the first exposed layers of paint, the frescoes made in later times are the Bible. They depict scenes from the life of Jesus.
In the Goreme Open Air Museum, you can visit the Monastery of Girls and Boys, the Church of St. Basileus, the Church of Elmali, the Church of St. Barbara, the Church of the Snake, the Dark Church, the Church of Charikli and the Church of Tokali.
The Göreme Open Air Museum has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List since December 6, 1985 as a natural and cultural site.

Don’t bother - this is just the cappadocia open air museum website read out by a boring AI voice. Get the museum audio guide or just read it yourself. Not even worth the $5.
