Tur audio Maramures Village Museum

Maramures Village Museum was established as a reservation of peasant architectural monuments, a joint work of Mr. Francisc Nistor and current director of the institution Mr. Michael Bennett.

Its structure creates the impression of a typical village in Maramures. Straight streets (main streets) and crooked paths make up the inner structure of the settlement and converge to the church as in all villages in Maramures.

For homes on display in the museum was used the wood carved by craftsmen in the area, and illustrates typical Slavic, Jewish, Hungarian, German and Romanian houses in the 17th and 18th centuries. The houses are kept in excellent conditions both inside and outside, with original traditional motifs on doors and inscriptions in Cyrillic and Arabic.
