Audio tour Pat

I paint purely as a hobby without any formal training but over the years have participated in lots of leisure art courses and workshops, trying to find ‘my style’.  I enjoy the inspiration these sometimes provide, often producing my most satisfying work!  These give me the opportunity to try large space and paper and different media which I do not have at home where my art is necessarily confined to a spare bedroom at home and a small desk.  My first love is drawing, with pen and ink but sometimes I feel this is very restricting.  I love bright colours and often try ‘fast and loose’ styles of painting without much success.  I generally am willing to have a go at anything!

This collection is a sample of the eclectic styles of my work, usually the result of an experiment, but always done with mindfulness and enjoyment.  Painting has been a great comfort and activity to maintain sanity during the lockdown at the start of which I completed a 100-page sketchbook of experimental (and sometimes very last minute) daily works of art.  

Living on my own, belonging to this village art group has provided company, friends, and inspiration – and the occasional picture which I have liked enough to hang on my wall.
