Audio tour Working Men of Wardsend

Welcome to the Working Men of Wardsend audio trail. Nestled on a wooded hillside, with the River Don flowing below, is a unique Victorian Cemetery, the final resting place of nearly 30,000 people from Sheffield and the surrounding district.

This trail will take you on a journey through the Cemetery discovering stories from some of those buried here. 

Please note that the Cemetery boasts a delicate balance between heritage and nature. The 'wild' nature of the site supports a lot of biodiversity and nature recovery. The Friends of Wardsend Cemetery clear vegetation where they feel necessary and where capacity allows.

This means the ground is uneven and overgrown in many areas, so please stick to the main paths and wear sturdy footwear and cover legs to avoid any injury. Unfortunately, this also means that the trail is not suitable for those with mobility difficulties. We hope to find a solution to accessibility in the near future.
