Saint Peter's Castle, located in the center of the Turkish city of Bodrum, is sometimes called Bodrum Castle. It was built in the XV century by the Knights Hospitaller and became the second most important castle of the order after the fortress on the island of Rhodes.

The exact date of the castle's foundation is unknown. It happened around 1407, since it was in this year that his first building, the chapel, was erected. The construction of the fortress lasted more than a century. As a result, the construction of the castle turned out to be quite chaotic. The main towers that formed the backbone of the defense received their own names – according to the communities that built them: the tower of France, Italy, England, Germany and the Snake.

We suggest you get to know them and the rest of the castle better. Together with our audio guide, you will learn how the knights lived, what they ate and what they did. We are sure that you did not know some of the facts. In addition, on the territory of the castle there are ancient artifacts from the time when the ancient city of Halicarnassus was located on the site of Bodrum. We will also tell you about them.

Wear comfortable shoes, as you will have to walk a lot. On average, it will take 2-3 hours to inspect all the objects of the fortress. Some locations may be closed for a break or restoration. It is better to come on an excursion before lunch, when it is not so hot. In advance, change dollars or euros to Turkish lira — only local currency is accepted at the castle's cash desks.
