Museum MILITARY PATRIOTIC MUSEUM

Dear friends. Welcome to one of the oldest museums of school №1246, it is the Museum of Kherson Rifle Division №295.

 The museum was established in 1981 in Moscow school №1246 (ex-number №61).    In two years later there was built the Alley of Battle Glory at the school area. Birch trees were planted by the Division veterans, schoolchildren and guests of honor. Since then the Museum has been replenished with the documents and exhibits about The Great Patriotic War.

  The Museum occupies three rooms in one of the school buildings by the address Otkrytoe shosse, 29. There are more than 300 material objects and 250 documents here and also there is a great library fund. In exposition design you can see different schemes and diagrams, art works made by veteran Bednenko N.G. and his divisionmates. Moreover, there are some additional rooms where archive and design workshop are situated.

  The Museum expositions represent the history of the Great Patriotic War through the military operations of Rifle Division №295. Sections of the Museum tell us about the battle path of the Division, the veterans of the Division, the school expeditions to the battlefields of the Division, the Heroes of the Soviet Union from 295th Division and the Full Knights of the Order of Glory, the history of Moscow District Metrogorodok and its veterans, and also about the history and heroes of Special Forces Unit «Rus».

  There are scale models of battlefields and full-size dugout model of the Patriotic War. Nicolay Bednenko, the former commander of 122mm howitzer that made the last volley at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin, gave the Museum two handwritten books with soldier memories, albums with pictures and even the howitzer model he fought with.

  Relatives of Vasiliy Litvinov, the former head of the Operation Department of the Division, gave the Museum his handwritten detailed material about the battle path of 295th Division. Also, there are some books of the other veterans of the Division about the main battles.

  Excursions in the Museum are held not only for Moscow schoolchildren but also for adults. The meetings with War veterans and veterans of Pedagogical work are often organized here. And some lessons can be held in our Museum: History, Literature, Geography and besides in different languages English, French, German and Chinese.
