The stereotypes about Spain and Russia have something in common: in Spain, the land of Don Quixote and Carmen, the hot sun is eternally shining, while in the land of the great Russian soul, it's always cold, and the silent snow whirls over the infinite plains. But we present to you a new annual exhibition at the Russian Museum, where you can replace the winter frost with the thaw of spring, blooming gardens and green, abundant fields of corn, the joy of swimming in the river, a forest adorned with autumn plumage, and falling leaves — the full cycle of the seasons, which sets the pace for life on earth.
The exhibits will not only leave you with an indelible impression of your encounter with the wealth of Russia's landscapes and odes to its nature, sung by gifted artists, but you will also travel through the development of landscape painting in the 19th and 20th centuries. Moving from one hall to another, you will take a fascinating journey into the history of art, tracking the evolution of Russian art, first through the path of Western European art, and then, fantastically, breaking with it through an exploration of the creation of outstanding works characterized by a distinct "Russianness".
