About the museum

What do you think of when we say ‘asylum?’

This sound exhibition aims to challenge common ideas of asylums and the people who lived in them. By shifting the focus to the daily routines of the patients and how they continued to lead creative lives, even within difficult circumstances, we hope to connect with people’s everyday experience of mental health, in both the past and present.

Find our exhibition in the alleyway between the David Wilson Library and the Fielding Johnson Building and follow the arrows!

A wonderful exhibition that dealt with a sensitive issue with empathy and compassion and presents a different image of mental institutions of the past.
