Welcome to Madinah City Tour; A journey through one of the most beloved cities in the Muslim world.
Before, it became known as Madinah, this city was called Yathrib — an ancient oasis settlement of palm groves, tribes, wells and caravan routes. Everything changed after the Hijrah, when Prophet Muhammad, Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam, migrated to Yathrib from Makkah in 622 C E. Yathrib became Madinat an-Nabi, the City of the Prophet, and over time simply Al Madinah — the City. It was here that a community was built, hearts were united, and the message of Islam took shape as a living society.
This car tour is intended to visit the places of memory, movement, culture and daily life. The sites that are deeply spiritual and battlefield-focused are covered in more deta`il in a separate Al Madinah Holy Sites Tour.
For this City Tour, we will cover 13 stops. We will begin around the Prophet’s Mosque area, then move through historic gates, museums, markets, cemeteries, mosques, cultural districts, Quba, battle memories and finally the railway story that once connected pilgrims to the wider Islamic world.
So, lets start our tour. Wear comfortable footwear and clothing as per the season, Take water and some snacks and with you so that you can complete all the points. If you are in short of time, visit just the must see stops with 3 stars.
