About the museum

The city of Malargüe is located 187 km southwest of San Rafael and 420 km south-southwest of Mendoza, capital of the province.
The Malargüe Planetarium Complex is located in an area of one and a half hectares belonging to the Municipality of Malargüe, which used to be part of public services in ancient times. Due to its location in the heart of the city, it was restructured in order to occupy the space strategically. It has a group of four buildings.

Upon entering the premises, from the north side, we find the information and ticket sales center. To the east is the second building, administration, conference room and buffet. In the third building, which stretches from North to South, we found the Pierre Auger science museum, the Malargüe headquarters of ICES (International Center for Earth Sciences) and the PEM (Malargüe Strategic Plan) offices. Finally, the fourth and most remarkable building, the Planetarium: a sky blue pyramid that houses the projection room, with a capacity for 65 people. Complejo Planetario Malargüe started its activities in 2007 in the center of the city. It depends on the Municipality of Malargüe and works jointly with the European Space Agency ESA and the Piere Auger Cosmic Ray Observatory, as they lead a great plan for integral scientific development, not only in our city, but also at national and international level.
