The town of Alès offers its residents a pleasant living environment, earning itself a well-deserved reputation as a place for good living.
In the past, the town was a major coal producer, which helped it become one of the industrial beacons of the Languedoc-Roussillon region.
Since 2008, thanks to its meticulous landscaping, the town has been awarded the 4th "Villes et Villages Fleuris" and the "Fleur d'Or" in 2020.
