About the museum

The Premonstratensian Monastery in Jasov, the largest Late Baroque building in Slovakia, was built between 1746 and 1766 based on the design of Franz Anton Pilgram and includes the Church of St. John the Baptist, a library with approximately 50,000 volumes, and an extensive Baroque garden with over 60 tree species. The monastery features symbolic architecture—365 windows represent days of the year, 12 chimneys the months, and 4 entrances the seasons. Today, it is a national cultural monument open to the public during the summer tourist season.
