博物馆 Ancient arboret in Villa Solatia

The secular history of Villa Solatia has had many phases of reworking the relationship between architecture, its use and the environment. From an original agricultural vocation - the land surrounding it was for a long time rice paddies - it has slowly been redefined as a stately home by turning the outdoor spaces into a park. A few decades of neglect led to a resumption of agricultural activity with the consequent demolition of many trees. It has only been 50 years since the Villa and the park have recovered their landscape dignity and many recent interventions are repopulating the large green spaces with interesting and complex projects that intertwine botanical passion with contemporary landscaping.
