博物馆 Introduction to Museo Nevio

Welcome! I introduce myself...

I am Nemuss museum, what a strange name, eh?

Don’t worry, it’s only an acronym which means Nevio Museo Scientifico Storico (Nevio Historical Scientific Museum).

When I was born? I am very young... I was established in 2016 and I’ve been open to the public since January 2017.

Where am I? In Liceo Classico Cneo Nevio, which is in the center of the town of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, not far from Caserta.

This school, born in 1863, had other names in the past: Mazzocchi, Tommaso di Savoia, Prince of Piemonte; it has been dedicated to Cneo Nevio, a Latin poet, only since 1986.

What is my purpose? I preserve, keep, exhibit, valorize and promote the study and the knowledge of scientific and technological instruments, in particular which are related to science teaching methods. I am divided in four sections: scientific instruments, natural specimens, scientific and teaching devices, office and multimedia apparatus.
