When a landscape tells a story...

Like only few other regions, Korbach's surroundings combine very different natural areas in a very small space. The rocks deposited over millions of years are the geological memory of the landscape. They store the geological information that can be experienced around Korbach.

    A lasting experience of nature

On the Korbach GeoPath you can follow the traces of the earth's history. Experience how today's landscape was formed - 350 million years of landscape history come to life! Discover karst phenomena on the Korbach plateau. Walk through the remains of medieval mining. Look for orchids and rare dry grassland plants. Learn interesting facts about the ice age around Korbach. Learn to read the fingerprints man has left in the landscape.

Once you have learned to read the traces of the earth's history, you will never again experience a boring walk!

    Route

The Korbach GeoPath is a 20 km long circular trail that connects the fossil-bearing site Korbacher Spalte with the Eisenberg near Goldhausen, Germany's largest gold deposit with a visitor mine and Goldspur nature trail.

The exact course of the GeoPfad and explanations of the individual stops can also be found in an accompanying brochure. This is available from the Korbach Tourist Information (Tel. 05631/53-232, www.hansestadt-korbach.de) and from the Wolfgang-Bonhage-MUSEUM KORBACH (Tel. 05631/53-289, www.museum-korbach.de).
