Über das Museum
St Andrew's is isolated, a homely church which is approached by the means of a long drive. The chancel, nave and square west tower date from the 14th century but the church has a beautiful carved Norman doorway and 13th century font.
The name of Sapiston means 'village of soapmakers' and is situated on the Blackbourne stream. St Andrew's setting is memorable, a church in the meadows near Grange Farm House and beside its flint faced former farm buildings, now converted into a house. The churchyard contains several 18th century headstones, with cherubs' faces, especially to the south west of the church.
With Honington church so close, the two parishes were combined in 1972 and St Andrew's was vested into the care of what is now The Churches Conservation Trust in 1974.
