Filters in izi.TRAVEL CMS
When working with exhibits, there is often a need to find certain parameters. Which exhibits lack audio? Which exhibits have descriptions in English or German? Which exhibits are not ready for public display? And so on.
The ‘Filters’ tool is designed to provide answers to questions like these.
When you click on “Filters” (1) you open the filter panel. The filters are grouped into three sections – Language (2), Content (3) and Visibility (4). The panel also has two buttons – “Apply filter” and “Reset filters”
Language section
This section appears only when there are exhibits in two or more languages.
This filter lets you see how many exhibits are available in each language.
To see what exhibits are available in a particular language, you need to check the box by the language and then click “Apply filters”.
If you want to see which exhibits are prepared in two languages, you need to check the boxes by the specific languages.
Let’s take a look at this process by displaying all the exhibits available both in English and Dutch. We check the boxes by these languages (5) and click “Apply filter”.
The only exhibits now displayed on the exhibits panel are those available in English and Dutch.
The upper part of the panel also displays the effective values of the filters (6). You can delete whatever values you want in the filter by clicking on the “x” next to them. This is how filtering is applied to the other parameters, or else canceled if all the filters are deleted.
Content section
This section is where you apply filters to exhibits for parameters such as the presence or absence of audio, images, descriptions, videos and quizzes.
To apply a filter, click on one of the values (Yes or No). To remove the value you’ve selected, click on it again. When you select “Yes” the filter will search for exhibits that match the specified content (audio, images, etc.). When you select “No”, exhibits with the specified content will not be displayed. If none of the values has been specified, then during filtering the type of content they represent will be ignored.
By way of example, let’s find out which exhibits don’t have audio capabilities. For this, we’ll simply select “No” on the “Audio” filter (7) and click “Apply filters”.
The exhibits panel will display only those exhibits that don’t have audio in any language.
You can narrow your search and request exhibits in English only, with no audio. To do this, you need to install an additional language filter:
Visibility section
The filters in this section are used to locate which of the exhibits have visibility options in a mobile application.
This depends on the setting of the language filters. If none of the languages are selected, the filter will look for the specified visibility parameter among the exhibits (regardless of the language version). If one or more languages have been selected in the language filter, then the filter will limit the search for the visibility parameter to exhibits with the selected language versions.
Let’s take a look at the following example. We want to find out which exhibits have the visibility setting “Only users who have passcode”. To do this, we select the “Only users who have passcode” filter. We leave the other filters in their default position:
Once we click on “Apply filter”, we’ll see only those exhibits for which the visibility option “Only users who have passcode” has been set. We see the search result below – one exhibit. To test this, we click on button (8), which opens the settings panels for exhibit visibility. We see that the exhibit is set to “Only users who have passcode” (9), which corresponds to the filter parameters.
Now we want to find out which exhibits in Dutch are set to the visibility parameter “Only users who have passcode”. To do this, we need to add one more parameter to the current filter settings – the Dutch language. We press the “Filters” button again, and in the “Language” section we apply a checkmark next to the Dutch language:
Let’s verify our results. We open the exhibit and look at the visibility settings for the Dutch version. We see that the visibility setting for the Dutch version has the “Only users who have passcode” value. This means the filtering was successful.
