Building of a former movie-theatre Saturn

The building of movie-theatre Saturn is an interesting example of the Soviet experiment – a synthesis of architecture and monumental/ornamental art. The designers are the specialists of Moscow central R&D institute of experimental design for theatre buildings and structures. The gable facades are decorated with mosaic panels created in the workshop of Andrei Vasnetsov, the People’s Artist of the USSR. The ornamental panels of Saturn movie-theatre are part of a uniform ornamental style of Avtograd, comprising a creative works’ body of the district’s central esplanade.
The premiere movie-theatre opened in 1972 as the most modern and the largest movie-theatre in the region, with its 1200 seats. Throughout its more than 35-years history, the movie-theatre received 4,5 million visitors.
