Park - Pizzorne - Matraia Return
Welcome to a journey through nature, history, and breathtaking landscapes!
This tour begins at Parco Avventura Villa Basilica, an oasis surrounded by nature and the perfect starting point for an itinerary that combines adrenaline, culture, and spectacular scenery. From here, a fascinating place once frequented by shepherds and travelers who crossed these highlands among beech forests and vast meadows. The view opens up to lush green valleys, and on the clearest days, you can even glimpse the sea in the distance.
One of the most captivating points of our journey will be Pietra Pertusa, a uniquely shaped rock formation characterized by a natural hole that has fueled stories and legends over the centuries. The name itself, meaning "pierced stone," draws attention to this geological peculiarity. But Pietra Pertusa is more than just a curious natural feature: this place was likely known since ancient times by the Liguri Apuani, the proud and warrior people who inhabited these lands before the arrival of the Romans. The Liguri Apuani were expert mountaineers who used strategic locations like Pietra Pertusa to control the territory. Skilled hunters and fierce fighters, they strongly resisted Roman expansion.
Leaving this fascinating site behind, our journey continues towards Matraia, a charming village perched on the hills of Lucca. Here, the landscape transforms, revealing gentle terraced slopes cultivated with olive trees and vineyards, offering postcard-perfect views. Matraia is famous for producing high-quality extra virgin olive oil and for its historic villas, a testament to the noble families of Lucca who once spent their summers here.
After exploring the village and admiring its scenic viewpoints, we will begin our return journey to the Parco Avventura, bringing with us images, stories, and emotions from an experience deeply immersed in nature and history.
