Welcome to Loonbeek. The Loonbeek and Margijsbos walk (4.5 km) starts at the Loonbeek car park. In addition to the parking lot in Loonbeek, there is also the bus stop “Loonbeek Kouterstraat” for buses 344, 395 and 595 of the Lijn. We step via the Zebra crossings over the N253 to the IJse to start the walk.

This walk usually follows nodes of the walking network.

We first start at the watermill and then walk along the IJse to the Kamstraat in Neerijse. We then walk through a spectacular sunken road to get a beautiful view of the Dijle valley and the Meerdaalbos on the other side of the Nijvelsebaan. Then we descend to the IJse valley through the Margijsbos to see the castle of Loonbeek and end back at the watermill of Loonbeek.

There is no catering in Loonbeek, but there are some options in Neerijse and Huldenberg.

Alternatively, you can join the Neerijse walk (5.5 km). Then the starting point is the bridge over the IJse on the Kamstraat, in Neerijse. This is a common point of both walks. Both walks can be used independently or combined without any problems. Together they form a figure-eight walk of about 10 km in total. If we start at the Kamstraat, the app will remember our route and bring us back to the Kamstraat.
