    The Sóller Botanic Garden was founded in 1985 and opened to the public in 1992. It is a centre for the conservation, study and understanding of  the Mediterranian flora, and specifically that of the Balearic Islands.

    In April 1997, a foundation was set up under the patronage of the Government of the Balearic Islands, the Council of Mallorca, the Sóller Town Council, the University of the Balearic Islands, the Caixa de Balears "Sa Nostra" savings bank, the Ibero-Macaronesic Association of Botanic Gardens, and the Balearic Natural Science Museum Association.

    Objectives

    - To conserve the endemic, rare or endangered plant species of the Balearics Islands, and of other Mediterranean islands and their continental areas of influence

    - To instruct and educate schoolchildren and adults, through collections of live plants, exhibitions, photographic contests, lectures, monographic publications, didactic material such as posters, leaflets etc.

    - To research conservation biology, the reproductive biology of wild species of plant, horticulture, gardening, etc.
