Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal

It used to be Amsterdam's equivalent of Fleet Street in London, where all the national Dutch press was based. The street has some fine examples of traditional Amsterdam merchants’ houses. The character of the city centre is largely determined by its 17th and 18th century houses - like the ones you can see here.
