À propos du musée
"Julia Hasdeu" Castle, a monument of national and universal importance, with unique architecture in the world, was built between 1894 - 1896 by Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu, "the most cultivated Romanian of the nineteenth century" as Romanian writer Mircea Eliade said.
His daughter Julia Hasdeu, a brilliant student in philosophy at the Sorbonne, died at the age of nineteen from pulmonary tuberculosis. After her death father tried to communicate with her spirit. Hasdeu claimed that the plans of the tomb in the Bellu Cemetery and those of the "Julia Hasdeu" Castle were sent to him by the spirit of his daughter.
The scientist named "Julia Hasdeu" Castle in memory of his two Iulias: wife and daughter, who never ceased, even after their death, to celebrate them on the 2 of July. The date was chosen symbolically unrelated to the anniversary day of the two beings who have enlightened his existence.
A visit to the "Julia Hasdeu" Castle may be a moment of revelation in contact with the symbols of the building and the magical atmosphere of the place! The building breathes through the fascinating story of how love conquers death! "There, in every corner, the matter say something"! The statement belongs to the playwright I. L. Caragiale, who visited "Hasdeu Julia" Castle in 1896.
