The notable figures from Igdir, Funeral in Igdir. 1986-2000, Oil on Canvas, 301×401, EIG
This is a biographical artwork, on which the artist worked for three decades. Originally Isabekyan wanted to depict on the picture only the family members, but later he changed his mind and decided to put together all notable figures from Igdir, keeping a photographic similarity. The people from Igdir are standing against the background of a church and Ararat, with the angels above their heads. Wisdom and nobility are reflected in the eyes of his characters.
Isabekyan didn’t manage to finish the painting due to a poor eyesight. There is a record kept in his diaries, where he bequeaths to his son Aram to finish the artwork, because he considers him a great portrait painter.
