The dynamic silhouette of the monument, erected in 2007 under the project of sculptor Oleg Sedov, invariably captures the eyes of passers-by.
Evpaty Kolovrat is the legendary Ryazan hero, the hero of The Tale of the Destruction of Ryazan by Batu. He became famous for his courageous struggle against the Mongols.
Evpaty Kolovrat became a symbol of strength of the Russian people and courage in the face of death. It is believed that the birthplace of the hero was the village of Frolovo in the Shilovsky district.
