Golden Pheasant
(Chrysolophus pictus)
The Golden pheasant is distributed in the Eastern part of Tibet and South China. It inhabits mountains and valleys with dense grass cover. It stays in bamboo thickets and bushes. It nests on the ground. There are 6-12 eggs in a clutch. The eggs are incubated by a female for 23-25 days. The Golden Pheasant feeds on spiders, insects, fern sprouts, bamboo, as well as other plant foods.
