Pierrefeu du Var, a picturesque Provençal village nestled on the slopes of a rocky peak, is located at the gateway to the Massif des Maures. It can be discovered through its narrow, old streets leading to the Sainte-Croix site.
After the religious wars that devastated the village, it was relocated on the hill of Sainte-Croix, 150 meters above sea level. Historically, the first origins of the commune date back to the 11th century as "Petrafoc," with lands that belonged to the lordship of Marseille.
Until the Revolution, the lordship or land of Pierrefeu was owned by various families from Provence. Before 1914, the industry was very important, with several factories producing corks, oil and flour mills, and sawmills.
