The most successful escape from a Jewish ghetto and the most successful rescue operation of Jews by Jews in the entire history of the Holocaust (the rescue of around 1,200 people) was made famous by the Hollywood movie "Defiance" with Daniel Craig as Tuvia Bielski, commander of the Jewish partisan detachment. This story took place in Novogrudok and its surrounding area. An exhibition at the Jewish Resistance Museum in Novogrudok, which was opened in 2007, is devoted to this particular escape.
Our tour will introduce you to the history of the Jewish Resistance Museum, the most successful escape in the history of the Holocaust and the largest Jewish partisan detachment operating in Belarus. You will also see an open-air exhibition, including the tunnel route, a memorial sign to the Wish to Live, a Garden of Justice and Compassion dedicated to the Belarusians and Poles who risked their lives and the lives of their loved ones to save the Jews, an open-air exhibition "The Story of the Tunnel and the Escape as Told by the Participants", the reconstruction of fragments of the tunnel and the Wall of Remembrance.

This is a most interesting tour. With its excellent commentary the frightening reality of life in the Novogroduk ghetto is introduced and urges the visitor to find out more.
