Over het museum
Museum was opened on March, 29, 1975.
The structure of the museum included five monuments of industrial architecture of the XIX century, the buildings of the former Ekaterinburg mechanical factory:
1. Drawing and the office of the chief mechanical engineer of plant. 1832–1834
2. The retaining (serf) wall of plant with the central gate on st. of Gorky. 1834.
3. The building for drying of the wood (shop of the wood). 1857.
4. The building of storerooms. 1860.
5. East wall of assembly and metalwork shop.1848.
Mission of Museum to acquaint with history of regional architecture and the Ural school of design, to show all variety of art culture of the Urals.
In accordance with its new conception three exposition sections were developed:
1. “The Stone Belt Architecture”
2. “Ural School of Design”
3. “The Ural State University of Architecture and Art: the history”.
4. "Еxposition of large-size equipment of the Ural plants"

Прекрасные макеты Уральского зодчества, выполненные студентами УрГАХа позволяют рассмотреть мельчайшие детали оформления. Но хотелось бы побольше динамики, всё очень статично. Аудиогид несколько дополняет информационное пространство музея.
