Banyuls appears in a document dated 981 under the name of "Balneum". The village will
have a great importance during the High Middle Ages.
A village of 1160 inhabitants, located on the Aspres borders, it is rich in remains and
ramparts dating back to the 13th century. The parish church is dedicated to St. Andrew. It
contains a Christ and some other 17th and 18th century statues.
