Tula is an ancient Russian city, located two hundred kilometers south of Moscow on the banks of the Upa river that is the right-bank tributary of the Oka river. It was first mentioned in the annals in 1146, so this is one of the oldest cities in Russia. Historically Tula was as a secure outpost on the southern borders of the Russian state. The city was part of an old Great Abatis Border meant to protect the principality of Moscow from Tatar raids.

Tula is known not only in Russia itself as a weapon capital, but also as the birthplace of the Russian gingerbread, samovar, and accordion. But the main treasure of this city is local craftsmen, who handed down their secrets from generation to generation.

Modern Tula is a large industrial center with a population of about half a million people. There are more than three hundred different visitor attractions in the city: the ancient Kremlin, many museums, and monuments. During our walk, you will see the most interesting of them.
