Audio tour Houplin Ancoisne

The town with two steeples: one on the "historic" village of Houplin, the church of Saint Martin; the other in the attached hamlet of Ancoisne, the Notre-Dame de Lourdes church.

This particularism reflects in its own way the importance of both areas in its rich history. Although Houplin was the village for centuries, the origins are rather Ancoisne along the Deûle.

A lacustrine city, a first for our country in 1877, but also a rich Merovingian necropolis, confirm the centuries-old roots of men on these lands.

The first mentions are under the names of "Wachemy" and "Leschins", around the eleventh century, before appearing "Hoplin-lez-Seclin". This attachment to the capital of Melantois is explained by the dependence vis-à-vis the chapter of the canons of the Collegiate Saint Piat.
