Audio tour Summary
A 4.6 km walk with stories along the way about several remarkable locations in Reuver from World War II.
It’s a diverse walk that takes you through both the urban area and wooded regions. The starting and ending points are the same, so you’ll be completing a loop. Along the way, you can enjoy refreshments in the town center. At various spots you will find benches for resting.Route Instructions: Follow the walking node system. From the start, walk towards node 9, then 8, 16, 52, 51, 80, 81, 82, 88, 17, 6, 5, 7, 45, and towards 56. Additionally, the app will show your exact location and guide you along the route. Make sure to enable GPS/location on your phone. The green arrow in the app indicates your position on the route. Follow the blue line of the route within the app.
If you see a number in the lower left corner of a photo, it means that there are that many photos accompanying the story. Tap the main photo, then swipe right to left with your finger to view the next photo.
If you have arrived at a place, where you can listen to a story about World War II, your phone will make a sound. This also applies to important route information. Do turn on your locationfinder and set your sound volume as loud as possible, otherwise you might miss the sound alerts. In case you don't hear that beep, in the route, go to the 3 dots at the top right and choose user preferences - jingle. This should be ON.
Enjoy your journey and may it be both enjoyable and educational.
The texts for this walk were created by, among others, the Local History Association Maas and Swalmdal in the persons of Henri Smeets, Wim Rovers and Pierre Verstappen.
Contributions from the Municipality of Beesel.
The project "Grenzgeschichten" is made possible by the Interreg Germany-Netherlands Program and co-financed by the European Union (EU) and the program partners.
