Om museet

King Nikola’s Museum is located in the palace of the last ruler of Montenegro from the dynasty Petrovic Njegos. It was built in 1867, and got its present appearance in 1910, when it was recostructed on the eve of the fiftieth anniversary of the marriage of the ruling couple and the reign of Nikola I and  the proclamation of the Kingdom of Montenegro. Since the Museum’s founding in 1926 the permanent exibition of the museum, whos fund consists of preserved inventory from residential dynastic buildings and precious cultural and historical collections of Montenegrin museums from the 19th century, was conceived as a reconstruction of the ambience of the Montenegrin court with a fragmentary presentation of the political, military and cultural history of Montenegro.
