INTRODUCTION

The Castle, located in Venafro, is the monument that best identifies the city. The oldest structure consists of the Longobard Tower, built in the 10th century on the ruins of a Roman fortification. Around that time, the Longobard count Paldefrido placed his headquarters in Venafro.

The castle expanded and two circular towers were added. It was therefore transformed into a residence by Enrico Pandone. The count built an elegant Renaissance loggia, and decorated the main floor with a cycle of frescoes.
