Tour audio Newark Country Club 100th Anniversary

Welcome to the Newark Country Club, an oasis of green on West Main Street in Newark, Delaware.

On any pleasant day from spring through fall, and weather permitting in the winter months, golfing members test their skills on the lush green fairways of this 6,396 yard course.

Parties, concerts, dances, swimming, lectures, and dinners attract both members and their guests.

This year celebrates the 100th anniversary of the club’s founding in 1921.

Since its incorporation on March 1, 1921, the Newark Country Club has survived the hard times of the Great Depression, the losses of membership and limitations caused by World War II, and recovered from a fire that totally destroyed its first Clubhouse.

It has become a center for community activity, was a pioneering advocate of state championship play, and was the first club in the state to elect a woman as its president.

With the 2020 sale of the club to Lang Development Group, the Newark Country Club gained a 10-year lease with the option to be extended another 10 years.

These lease options ensure that the Club will continue to serve Newark residents, members, and guests into the near future.
