Tour audio 07 - The enclosure, henhouse and sheepfold

The enclosures were made in 2005 and the sheepfold re-established in 2007 from the XV century representation and description. The henhouse was built in 2017 according to the traditional mode of architecture with timber framing. During the first week of August when the annual Medieval entertainment takes place, the enclosures and sheepfold will be occupied by animals.

The enclosure was used to keep poultry and is made of entwined branches. Look, it’s just in front of you. Bramble, thorns and small branches form a “dead” fence, forming an insurmountable barrier.

- On your right are the enclosures made of high and strong fences, consisting of stakes entwined with ash, alder and hazel branches.

These are for cows and calf, horses and asses.

- Goats and sheep are kept in simple enclosures which are made of woven entwined willow branches, which are on your left.

The sheepfold is a shelter with a thatched roof, it is located behind you between the barn and the bread oven.
