Collection #8. The black bathhouse is one of the most ancient types of bathhouses. It is distinguished by its high fuel economy and low heat loss. The stove in the black bathhouse is located directly in the steam room. A large number of stones weighing 200-300 kg are laid out on the grate. There is no chimney. Burning wood heats the stones, smoke gets into the steam room and evenly heats all surfaces. Then the door and window are opened and the smoke goes outside, and the soot finally eats into the wood. It is because of this property that the bathhouse got its name. Smoke and ash help to disinfect the room and eliminate all unpleasant odors. Thus, an absolutely antibacterial type of bathhouse is obtained. There is even a popular saying that only a black bathhouse can wash white.
