Tour audio Episode 4: A Family's Story in Food and Gardening

Hi, I am Ruben Jimenez. I am a freshman at Colorado State University. I am studying Sociology with a concentration in Criminology and Criminal Justice. My family has its traditional salsa from our homegrown chiles and tomatillos. I have reached out to my grandparents and learned that gardening helps save money and can be considered a "Pasatiempo", hobby. I see that gardening isn’t practiced as often in las Tres Colonies and I’d like to share my family’s experiences and effects and help expand the gardening experience to more families in the neighborhood and to get engaged with El Museo. I’ve put together this episode of the Youth-to-Youth Sustainability Podcast and interviewed my grandpa on his gardening experiences to give an insight into a family’s story in food and gardening. Based on my experiences, this project taught me that by reaching out to family you can learn about your roots and how those roots can be applied to involve the younger generation in the family.
