The Kochubei's residence is closely connected with the history of Cossack legal proceedings because Vasyl Kochubei was the Judge General.
In the building basement, which has been completely preserved to this day, there is an exhibition that reveals the process of the Cossack investigation with the use of torture, a court session, and the execution of sentences.
The centerpiece of the exhibition is wax figures of the court clerk who conducted the investigation, and the shackled prisoner.
The operation of the General Court in Baturyn, which was the Hetman's Capital, is directly related to real people who were kept in Baturyn prison as prisoners. The exhibition reflects the stories of some of them, in particular, the legendary commander of Cossack camp Ivan Sirko and Colonel Semen Palii.
The exhibition is supplemented with instruments of torture and punishment, as well as images of punishments that were used in the judicial system of Ukraine of the XVII-XVIII centuries.
