The province of Utrecht, centrally located, is the smallest of the twelve Dutch provinces.
Utrecht is the capital of the Ononima province and with 344,384 inhabitants it is the fourth city of the Netherlands for the number of inhabitants.
The city center stretches around the central and oldest nucleus of the town. Most of the buildings in the centre date back to the Golden age of the Netherlands, namely the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. The city is crossed by several canals: the most picturesque are the Oudegracht (old Canal) and the Nieuwegracht (new canal).
