- What kind of dream?
- I dreamt about a big red building with brown dots on the front. When I went inside, the interior took my breath away..... It was so strange and exciting that now I want to go back there.
- Did you know that a place like that exists in real life?

You just described the Dali Theatre-Museum in Figueres, where the artist was born and buried. This is also where his first exhibition took place.
The museum itself can be counted as one big exhibit. You won't believe it, the artist used giant eggs and loaves of bread to decorate it! These two products had been the food of the artist since his childhood years, and they play an huge role in his artworks.

And this is one of Dalí's mock works - the illusion room. It is based on the painting "Mae West's Face which May Be Used as a Surrealist apartment". If you climb a special staircase and look through a distancing glass - two paintings, curtains, nose and lips will combine in the form of the face of the famous actress!

In this room the first exhibition of the young Dali took place. The hall is called "Palace of the Wind", and it is up to its name. Look up! The ceiling has clouds, sky and two figures rising into the air! In reality, instead of the sky we see the Earth and instead of the Earth we see Golf de Roses! It's an illusion!

Another amazing exhibit is located in the courtyard of the museum. In its center is "Rain Taxi" - a sculptural group with a Cadillac, created on the occasion of the World Surrealism Exhibition. It rains continuously in the car. I wonder if the mannequins sitting in it and surrounded by plants don't mind such dampness.
